Nestled in the foothills of the Razorback Range, Picton is located approximately 85km South-West of Sydney and just beyond the urban fringe. Land was first alienated from the crown in 1822 and even though the town was bypassed by the F5 freeway in 1979, it has steadily grown whilst still maintaining its semi rural character.
When Picton's first Agricultural Society was formed in 1880, the area comprised of several dairies and small farms.
The First show was held on the flats of Javisfield.
